Approaches
used for
oral bioavailability enhancement of herbal drugs, Online Journal of Pharmacol,
4: 18-31, 2008. Herbal
drugs are playing an important role in health care programmes
for preventive and curative treatments. These drugs generally have
problem of
poor oral bioavailability. Several pharmaceutical approaches like self-microemulsifying drug delivey
system; nanoemulsion, prodrug
system and many more have been used to overcome this problem. This review deals with the formulation work
that has been done on silymarin, paclitaxel,
alpha-asarone, breviscapine,
vinpocetine, curcumin
and puerarin to enhance their oral
bioavailability.
