ABSTRACT

Herbal drugs are playing an important role in health care programmes for preventive and curative treatments. These drugs generally have problem of poor oral bioavailability. Several pharmaceutical approaches like self-microemulsifying drug delivey system; nanoemulsion, prodrug system and many more have been used to overcome this problem.  This review deals with the formulation work that has been done on silymarin, paclitaxel, alpha-asarone, breviscapine, vinpocetine, curcumin and puerarin to enhance their oral bioavailability.
